Haydn laughed and draped his arm around Jackson’s shoulders. “I don’t think your fire companion is going to be too happy when you tell her about the dent you put in her new car!”

Jackson grinned, unrepentant. “Not to worry. I’ll just give her a little of my special brand of loving and she’ll forget to be mad at me.” He pointed to a table at the far side of the packed barroom. “Looks like we’re late. The guys already have a table.”

They shouldered their way through the Friday night crowd at the Pagan’s Corner, jostling good-naturedly with the other residents of Utopia Bay. Shifters, paranormals and humans all came to the local pub to have a good time, and the bouncers made sure racial tensions didn’t get out of hand.

Haydn grabbed a chair and straddled it backward, resting his chin on his crossed arms. “So what’s the plan for the night? It’s been a bitch of a week at work and I’m raring for some action.”

“May I take your orders, sirs?”

Haydn turned at the sound of that soft voice, and stared right into the prettiest pair of brown eyes he’d ever seen. Framed by soft brown skin and close clipped dark curls, those eyes bored a hole right to his heart. Unprecedented need exploded in his gut. His mated friends had always told him it would happen one day when he least expected it. He realized he was looking at his souler.

He let his gaze roam the rest of her ample charms while an appreciative smile crossed his lips. The quip rose to his tongue with the ease of years spent pursuing every female he could find. “Darling, I’d love to have you take my orders.”

She didn’t even blink, just raised one of those perfectly sculpted eyebrows and stared at him. He swore the temperature in the bar dropped ten degrees.

A couple of the guys whistled, and Jackson had the nerve to laugh out loud. “That one’s not going to fall for any of your pat lines, Haydn, so you might as well order a drink. Cassie doesn’t do dragons.”

“A mug of whatever’s on tap.” Haydn kept his eyes lowered, struggling to keep the redness from creeping up his neck. He had a reputation as a player, and it had been a long time since a woman had stonewalled him quite that thoroughly.

“Same for me.” Jackson tossed some money on the table.

Haydn watched her scribble the order down before she turned back to the bar. She held herself straight and proud, her wide hips sashaying beneath a calf-length denim skirt. He felt his cock jerk to attention at the thought of all that soft, warm flesh beneath him. Damn! He turned to Jackson. “What do you mean, she doesn’t do dragons?”

“Hey, don’t shoot the messenger.” Jackson held his hand up in mock fear. “She’s one of the humans that Egan’s group, Bound for Freedom, managed to save. To say she’s terrified of dragons would be putting it mildly. Can’t say I blame her, those rogues are a mean bunch.”

“Damn, that sucks.” Haydn watched her load drinks onto the tray and head back toward their table. “I’ll have to be real gentle with her.”

Jackson stared at him as if he’d just grown a second head. “Are you crazy? That girl is never going to go out with you. What part of ‘terrified of dragons’ did you not get?”

Haydn smiled gently. “She’s my fire companion. Of course she’ll go out with me. She just needs to get used to the idea.”

Across the table, another of his other friends shook his head in sympathy. “You think Cassandra is your fire companion? You’ve got your work cut out for you, man. I’ve heard some of Egan’s stories, and they aren’t pretty. You’ll be lucky if she lets you get within ten feet of her front door.”

Haydn watched the woman’s ample bosoms sway enticingly while she wound her way back to their table. “You said her name is Cassie, Jackson. What else do you know about her?”

Jackson shook his head. “Not much. Her full name is Cassandra, but everyone calls her Cassie. Egan’s group, Bound for Freedom, rescued her and she decided to stay here instead of returning to her home, wherever that was. She got this job right after her rescue, and cleaned out one of the cabins at the edge of town to live in.” He paused, his brow furrowing with concentration. “I don’t think she’s dated anyone since Egan freed her, certainly not a dragon.”

Haydn felt a knot he didn’t even know he had relax in his gut. She didn’t date. That was a good sign. It meant she was waiting for him, whether she knew it or not.

He smiled up at her when she reached their table. “Sorry for my rudeness earlier. You’re just so pretty my brain didn’t kick into gear.” So far so good. She hadn’t dumped the beer over his head yet. “Maybe when you get off shift, we could go grab a bite to eat?”

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Jackson roll his eyes. He obviously thought Haydn was nuts, but it didn’t matter. All that mattered was his fire companion. She hesitated for a split second, and his heart leapt with hope.

“I don’t think that would be wise, sir.” Her voice had a musical lilt to it that resonated to the very center of his being. Her dark lashes swept down over her eyes, hiding her expression. She set the drinks down and turned to leave. He lifted his hand, intending to stop her, but let it fall.

She had the look of a rabbit just before his dragon snatched it from the ground, and he didn’t want her to think of him as a monster. He’d find another way to approach her.

Blurb:

Fiona really wasn’t in the market for a lover or a partner or some guy to give her a sappy sweet happily ever after. Been there, done that, got the scars to prove it. She just wanted a nice one-night stand. She planned to be long gone come breakfast time.

When she saw that gorgeous cowboy ride up on his Harley, she figured it was her lucky day. Bikers don’t do forever, right? Her perfect match! They could tell each other a few lies, scratch each other’s itches and then go their separate ways. The last thing she needed was to hook up with some guy she’d smack headlong into at church the next day.

Simple, right? So how did it all go so very wrong?

.EXCERPT

Wyatt tossed her into the middle of the king-size bed and started to peel off his clothing. Damn. His cock was already hard and ready for her. Either she was the sexiest woman he’d ever had the pleasure of meeting, or his newfound freedom was having a very pleasurable effect on his libido. He skimmed his jeans down over his hips and tossed them aside.

It had been less than an hour since their little tryst in the parking lot. Maybe he should pace himself a bit. He’d never failed to finish the deed, and he had no intention of starting at this late date. Then again, he felt like a million bucks and his cock had definitely risen to the occasion.

He pulled a package of condoms out of his suitcase and placed them within easy reach on the bedside table before he pounced onto the bed and pulled her into his arms.

Fiona melted against him like a knife into butter, a perfect fit. He cradled the back of her head in one hand and took her lips in a kiss that sent a shiver of lust sizzling through his body. Her skin felt incredibly smooth beneath his hands as he impatiently pushed her shirt up and cupped her breasts.

High and firm, the plump globes fit perfectly into his palms. His cock twitched, feeling almost painfully hard, and he struggled to keep himself in control. It didn’t help that her nipples puckered into tight little buds under his hands.

Damn. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d felt this horny.

Fiona broke off the kiss and sat up on the bed. She pulled off those sexy cowboy boots of hers and began to shrug out of her clothing. Peeking out at him from beneath her lashes, she proceeded to toss it aside one item at a time. Kind of like an impromptu striptease with more stripping and less teasing involved.

Watching her deliciously rounded body emerge from the layers of cloth, Wyatt sucked in a deep breath. The parking lot had been dark, and he’d been too busy getting laid to really look at her. The woman was gorgeous. What the hell was she doing cruising dives like that bar for a quick fuck? Then again, who was he to question the ways of a woman? For all he knew, she could have a husband and six kids somewhere waiting for her to finish getting her rocks off.

“Let me help you with that.” His voice was thick with lust as he pushed her hands aside and deftly undid the stubborn zipper on her jeans. She grinned at him as she balanced on her haunches and pushed the denim down over her ankles.

Fully naked now, Fiona licked her lips, focusing her attention on his thick shaft. “Should have guessed you’d be going commando.”

He shrugged. “One less thing to worry about.” He grabbed one of the little foil pouches and sheathed himself. Ready for action.

Fiona reached out and wrapped her hand around the base of his cock, and a jolt of erotic heat sizzled through him. Letting out a low growl, he pushed her back onto the bed and fastened his mouth on hers.

Damn, she tasted amazing. Like sunlight and laughter and sex all rolled into one. For a moment, he hesitated. She was incredible, a real beauty. He had no idea why she’d decide she wanted him, but deep down inside, he knew she deserved better. Then again, maybe he deserved a night with no regrets.

He nipped at her full bottom lip, then set about exploring her mouth with his tongue. He couldn’t get enough of her, running his hands over her silken skin, and mapping every delightful curve of her ample figure. This time he wanted to do it right and that meant foreplay, making sure she was ready for him before he just rammed himself home. He was lucky she hadn’t taken off after he’d been crass enough to fuck her in the parking lot of a bar.

Fiona shifted restlessly beneath him, and he gave his head a mental shake. She was here, and she obviously wanted him. No point in questioning his luck, just be thankful she’d picked tonight to go cruising.

Lifting his head, he flared his nostrils and took her scent deep inside himself before flicking his tongue across one tightly pebbled nipple. Her shiver of pleasure urged him on, and he settled in to lick and suck at the generous mounds. He could spend the rest of his life worshipping her perfect breasts.

“Wyatt…”

“Mmm?”

“Quit fooling around. I need to feel you inside me.”

He lifted his head to stare down into her eyes. “Are you sure? I’m trying to be a gentleman here, build a mood, work my way up gradually, you know, and it’s not easy.”

She giggled. “I don’t want a gentleman, I want the cowboy I saw riding that mechanical bull, and I want him to fuck me. Now.”

BLURB:

Jenna has a secret — her alien blood makes her completely lose control during sex. It takes a strong man to be able to stand up to her demands, and so far she hasn’t found one strong enough to want to come back for more. On the eve of the biggest Sci-Fi convention in the known universe, she makes a wish. Now it’s up to Doug, the sexy troubleshooter from the Wishes Gone Wrong department of Wishlabz Inc. to make sure it comes out right. Because a wish gone wrong can be a very dangerous thing…

EXCERPT:

“You killed him?” She couldn’t help it. Her voice rose to a high-pitched squeak.

Doug laughed. “Hell no. He’s just out for the next forty-eight hours or so. Little known fact about Tra’toni; they have a very sensitive pressure point at the base of their skulls. Press it hard enough, they drop like a stone and stay there for a long time.”

Relief flooded through her. “So why don’t we stay and clear things up with security?” She looked around as he changed direction, hustling her down a long corridor away from the main conference area. “The exhibits are all the other way. Where are we going?”

Doug draped an arm around her shoulder and pulled her in for a long heated kiss just as a couple of people decked out in futuristic armor exited one of the side corridors and hurried past, chattering away in galactic standard.

His lips locked over hers and he thrust his tongue deep. Want and need slammed into her like a freight train careening out of control, while his hands slid down to mold the shape of her ass. She’d been anticipating a long night of passionate lovemaking before she’d realized her wish had gone so horribly wrong.

Heat coiled in the pit of her stomach and sent tendrils of erotic fire darting through every nerve. She suddenly didn’t care where he was taking her, so long as there was a sleeping platform there. Or a table. Or a floor. Or a kitchen counter. Right now, she’d be quite happy to fuck standing up right here in the corridor. Damn! She needed some action, and soon. He broke off the kiss as quickly as he’d started it, and Jenna shook her head in bewilderment. “What the hell?”

“I didn’t want that couple to be able to identify us later. Now all they are going to recall is two people making out in the corridor. They didn’t even get a good look at our faces.” He urged her further down the corridor. “My job is somewhat discreet, and I don’t want anyone connecting us with the big guy lying on the floor back there.”

He stopped in front of an access panel, and Jenna realized that they were in the outer rings where the passenger ships docked. Producing a plastic data card, Doug slipped it into the I.D. panel. The door cycled open with a quiet $swoosh, and he motioned her to precede him.

A short walk down the corridor led them to a ship’s entrance port. “Welcome to the $Gryphon.” He patted the ship affectionately before placing his hand on the security panel to allow it to identify him. “Best little spaceship in the galaxy.” The entry slid open smoothly.

“Nice.” Jenna couldn’t care less about a bucket of bolts. “Where’s your stateroom? You do have a stateroom, don’t you?” She ran a finger down the thin material of his shirt. “With a bed?”

Doug blinked, looking nonplussed for a second before a dark grin lit up his face. “Oh, yeah. I see you aren’t the shy and retiring type.”

“Nope.” Jenna shook her head and slipped aboard the ship. “I like my sex hot and hard, and I don’t care who knows it.”

“You’re not completely human, are you?” Doug flicked his palm across the control panel, and the entry port slid silently shut behind them.

“Not entirely.” Jenna wondered exactly how much he knew. Someone had obviously sent him to rescue her from her wish, but had they told him about her alien blood?

“Not that it matters, but your eyes have an exotic look to them that’s a real turn-on.” He lifted a hand to trace the line of her eyebrow. “And the color is the most amazing mix of blue and green… I’ve never seen anything quite like them.” He shook his head. “Sorry, sometimes I get carried away. Would you like a tour of the $Gryphon?”

“Just the stateroom.” She could feel darts of liquid heat roaring deep inside her; something about Doug had her libido racing into overdrive. She wasn’t sure how much longer she could resist the urge to rip his clothes off and have her way with him. “You did say there was a bed in there?”

“Right.” A sexy grin turned up the corner of his mouth. “Personal attention first. Tour of the $Gryphon later.”

Jenna leaned in to place a tantalizing kiss square on his lips. “Much later. Lead on.”

Doug dropped his arm around her shoulder, reaching down to brush his fingers over the outline of her breast. Jenna found herself glad that she’d worn a thin skin-suit to her disastrous meeting with the alien. She looked forward to removing even that small barrier to his hands.

“Bulkhead’s down here.” Doug wrapped both arms around her waist as they stepped into a void in the deck. Her breath caught in her throat as the floor fell away beneath her feet and they dropped for a fraction of a second until the levitation field kicked in to moderate their descent. She breathed a sigh of relief when she felt solid ground beneath her feet. Doug tugged her down the corridor and stopped in front of a doorway. Plucking his helmet off  with a gallant flourish, he gestured her to precede him. “Welcome to my lair.”

The last thing she needed was to hook up with some guy she’d smack headlong into at church the next day.

Simple, right? So how did it all go so very wrong?

EXCERPT

Wyatt reacted like any other red-blooded male. Sliding one foot forward to better balance, he wrapped his arms around her lusciously curved body and seared a kiss across her lips. He’d finally managed to close the door on his past and tomorrow he’d be on his way to a new life in a new town. That deserved some kind of celebration and this woman was offering his favorite kind. Who was he to turn down such a gracious offer?

Damn, she smelled good. Clean and earthy, with just a hint of something exotic. Must be in the shampoo. He nuzzled the soft fall of hair, inhaling deeply and felt a sizzle of excitement flash through his already full groin.

Fiona responded instantly, wrapping her arms around his neck to pull him closer. Her fingers tangled in his hair, firmly anchoring him to her as if she thought he might run off.

Fat chance of that. The thought of a woman who wanted to fuck him without expecting anything in return was so novel he wasn’t sure how to react, except to make sure he didn’t waste the opportunity.

Fiona let out a low whimper, moving against him with a restless urgency. Wyatt dropped his arms to her butt, pulling her up tight against his aching groin. Lowering his head he devoured her mouth before nibbling his way down to the soft hollow of her throat.

He groaned softly as she lowered her hands to fumble with his belt buckle. Within seconds she had it undone and he heard the soft snick of his zipper being lowered. Just a short instant later, he felt the touch of her fingers on his cock.

Oh, damn. The woman knew exactly how to make a man stand up and take notice. She squeezed his balls gently with one hand while her other traced the big vein along the side of his rock-hard erection. She closed her fist around his shaft, using her hand to trace a blazing path from his groin to the tip of his cock.

If she kept that up, this was going to be a very one-sided event.

Reluctantly letting go of her beautifully rounded ass, he moved his hands between them and unfastened her jeans, spreading them open. He laid his palm flat on her soft belly, then slid it lower, exploring the bountiful flesh beneath his fingers. If he’d conjured her up from his wet dreams, she couldn’t have been more perfect. Not some stick figure from one of those stupid magazine ads, this woman was all curves and softly melting flesh.

When he slid his hand down to cup her mound, he could feel the warm heat radiating from her core. Oh yeah. She wanted him, and she wanted him now.

Fleetingly, it crossed his mind that she wasn’t this hot just because he was so handsome, or sexy. She barely knew him. Any warm male body would be fine with her. She just wanted to be fucked.

He dismissed the disturbing thought as quickly as it had appeared and dipped one finger through the soft folds guarding her entrance. So long as she was willing, he intended to take full advantage of the situation. He tweaked the soft bundle of nerves at her center and was rewarded with a strangled yelp.

“Oh, yes! Now! I need you inside me. Now!” The desperate edge to her voice acted like an aphrodisiac, spurring him into action. Spreading both hands on her hips, he pulled her jeans down to expose her completely. Her pants slid to her ankles in a puddle of denim, and he ran his hands over her nicely rounded butt, gratified at the feel of warm flesh on flesh. The sensation was so damn amazing he almost forgot his cardinal rule.

Safety, first and always.

“Shit.” He let go of her, ignoring the pained whimper and dug into his back pocket for his wallet. Drawing it out, he opened it and extracted the emergency condom he always kept there.

“Let me.” Fiona reached down to slip her boots off before stepping out of her jeans. She took the foil packet from him and ripped it open. An enigmatic smile curved her lips as she sheathed him with unseemly haste. “Are we ready now?”

“Damn right we are!” Lifting her up, he sat her naked butt on the edge of the driver’s seat and positioned himself between her thighs. He could feel the heat radiating from her sex, and he reached down to position his cock at the moist entrance to her sex.

Fiona let out a low sigh, shifting herself forward against him.

Wyatt gritted his teeth, determined to do this right. The seat was just the perfect height. He grasped her hips firmly and slowly skewered her with his rock-hard cock. Damn, she was tight! He could feel the muscles inside her slick channel grasping at his cock, urging him deeper and deeper.

Fiona wrapped her legs around him, crossing her ankles against the small of his back, and using that leverage to urge him on.

To hell with taking it slow and easy. Tonight he wasn’t a gentleman, he was a biker dude and he might as well act like one.

Natalie’s loved and lost and she’s not so sure she wants to risk her heart again. She’s willing to settle for a challenging career as a space-pilot instructor and a succession of no-strings attached lovers. But that’s before her boss saddles her with the last thing she wants—a new partner.

Jebediah recognizes his perfect match in Natalie from the moment she seduces him on a dare. Everything that makes her a top-notch pilot, from her fearlessness to her passion, make a night in her bed both challenging and unforgettable.

A dangerous confrontation with a brutal enemy, an exploding drive engine and a traitor close to home throw everything into perspective. Natalie is going to have to put the past behind her and risk it all, because when your partner is also your lover, failure is not an option.

EXCERPT

“Delta Class Scout ship. I order you to identify yourself, or be prepared to handle the consequences.”

A deep male chuckle rolled through the comm link. Natalie blinked. Laughter? Was the idiot actually laughing at her? He was so going to eat her dust, and that would be before she grounded his sorry ass for the next decade or two.

Thirty years of practice gave her the edge every single time one of the cadets pulled a stupid stunt like this. Engaging the infrared overlay on the cerebral interface, she mentally plotted the other ship’s most likely course. Only an experienced space jockey understood that the shortest route was rarely the quickest, or the easiest.

Sure enough, the idiot darted between the two large asteroids directly in front of him. A seasoned pilot would know that the combined gravitational fields of the rocks created a braking effect on any smaller object caught between the two of them. Real-life one on one versus theory in the classroom. She could almost feel sorry for the pilot as he struggled to wrest control of his ship from the two inanimate objects.

Almost, but not quite.

She circled around the trap, putting herself directly between the rocket jockey and home base. Let him watch her tail for a while before she slapped him into the brig. Waggling her wings in an insulting salute that the unfortunate pilot couldn’t possibly miss, she veered toward home base.

She hadn’t quite finished congratulating herself on such a swift victory when her ship careened sideways, almost colliding with one of the smaller asteroids in the field. What the hell?

She jerked her head up, hardly able to believe the display in front of her eyes. The smaller ship had freed itself of the gravity well and moved to parallel her before turning so that his thrusters aimed directly at her side. When he fired them, the shock hit the pilot ship with all the force of a herd of thundering moon-cats.

Crap! This kid had balls. Balls and the makings of a star-class fighter pilot—if she didn’t kill him first.

Getting the ship back under control, she reined in her temper and concentrated on chasing the smaller ship. It had been a long time since anyone had actually given her a run for her money. She wasn’t sure she liked it. “Pilot, you just bought yourself a serious amount of time dirt-side. Again, I say, identify yourself.”

No answer.

“Who the hell are you?” Her voice harsh with suppressed rage, she gave the pilot one last chance to reply.

“Obviously a better pilot than you.” His voice was smooth and low, with a trace of male humor showing through. Arrogant, definitely arrogant.

She felt a grudging respect for his lack of deference. He had her on the run and he knew it. “I doubt that. I got careless and you got lucky.”

A disbelieving snort echoed through the com link. “I’m an excellent pilot. I don’t need luck.”

“And your name?” She didn’t recall the last time she’d spent this much time trying to extract information from a cadet. Who the hell was this guy? A few seconds passed, and Natalie realized the cadet was going to ignore her yet again.

Turning the mode to private, she called up the avatar. “Can you get anything on that ship? A registration number? Something to trace the pilot?”

“Negative.” If an avatar could shake its head, she was sure it would be. “There seems to be some type of blocking involved.”

Natalie’s eyebrows rose in surprise. Blocking identification protocols was strictly forbidden, and would require way more tech savvy than most of the cadets were capable of. “Can you identify the blocking procedures?”

Maybe she could get the man’s identity in a round-about way. She snorted ruefully. When had she started thinking of the pilot as a man, not a boy? When he’d outmaneuvered her back there, or when he’d had the backbone to not answer her demands, not give her his name?

With that attitude, he’d go far in the military. Again, if she didn’t kill him first.

Who the hell was he?

Read Lights Out in The Expanding Universe #SpaceOpera #NewRelease by @KayelleAllen

What if today was “lights out?”

Read Lights Out in The Expanding Universe #SpaceOpera #NewRelease by @KayelleAllenIf you knew this was your last day to live, what would you do? Would you face the end with a clear conscience? Would you fight for one more day?
Look for that person you wronged and make it right? Run away? Turn and fight? What would you do?

In Lights Out by Kayelle Allen, the hero knows his end is near. Instead of running, Tornahdo makes a choice. He will face death with a clear conscience and the knowledge that his death will serve mankind. He will join…
GHOST CORPS

He can save mankind. After he does one important thing. Die.

Join the Ghost Corps, they said. You’ll live forever, they said. You’ll save mankind, they said. They didn’t say that to do it, first he had to die.

When Tornahdo signs on the dotted line, he puts his life into the steady hands of the mighty Ghost Corps. Three grisly deaths and three agonizing resurrections later, he’s assigned duty on Enderium Six.

He’s facing his most dangerous mission yet, the very reason the corps exists.

Do they expect him to win? Fat chance. Tornahdo and his team are already dead and this mission is codenamed “Lights Out.” No, there’s more to this than he can see.

To discover the truth, he must face an unbeatable, unkillable enemy, and this time–somehow–find a way to keep himself alive…

Excerpt, Lights Out by Kayelle Allen

The air reeked of antiseptic and starch stiffened the pillowcase. If only the mind-numbing jabbering would stop.

Tornahdo pried open his eyes. The flattened blood bag above him, stenciled equipment and gray walls screamed military hospital.

He’d died. Again.

Spanish curses slipped out. His abuela would’ve taken a switch to him. He made the sign of the cross and kissed his fingertips.

After yanking the tube out of his arm, he pressed a thumb over the entry point. Thankfully, this time, he wasn’t writhing on the floor in agony. Well, not yet.

A faceless android in a Ghost Corps uniform loomed over a bank of equipment displaying Tornahdo’s name and vitals. First impression was right. Military hospital.

The weapons-grade yapping continued.

“Did you hear?” a youthful voice bragged. “He killed six of ’em last night.”

“Yeah, but they don’t stay dead. They never do.”

“If Ultras didn’t come back to life, their plasma wouldn’t bring our own people back.”

The transfusion of enemy blood healed the hole in Tornahdo’s arm in seconds. He thumbed off the red smear and rolled over on the gurney.

An open door led to a sink and toilet built to let gravity do its work. Which meant this was a planet. You hadn’t lived until you were in space, floating in zero gravity while your body’s final twitches sent your corpse spinning.

Notices on the wall confirmed this was San Xavier in the Colonies of Man. Same place he’d bought it the first time.

This was getting old.
